Mike Sottak A founder of Wired Island, Mike Sottak has more than 23 years experience in high-tech marketing, business development, public relations and journalism. He has worked with broad range of electronics industry leaders, including Broadcom, Chartered Semiconductor, Novas Software, and Xilinx; and start-ups such as Arteris, Barcelona Design, Impinj, Innovent Systems and Improv Systems. He spent ten years at Cadence Design Systems, the leading supplier of electronic design software and services, where he was Director of Public Relations, overseeing the $1 billion firm's global PR program and helping establish it as one of the world's premier high-tech companies. Mike was also involved in many of Cadence's critical business development, marketing, advertising and industry standard initiatives, including the opening of the Verilog language and the VITAL initiative, launched at the 1995 DAC.
Prior to joining Cadence, Mike worked at start-up Gateway Design Automation, joining that company in the early stages of its development and managing its communications programs until its merger with Cadence. Mike has also been a Director of Marketing at PC Week Magazine, the leading source of news and information for the IT industry, where he oversaw a variety of communications and marketing programs. He has worked as a journalist at daily newspapers in Boston and Houston, winning several Associated Press awards for writing during his career. Mike also worked in the public relations department of the Boston Celtics during their last world championship season. He has a degree in public relations from Boston University's College of Communication. Laurie Stanley Laurie Stanley’s 25-year career in high-tech corporate marketing and communications includes working with small, pre-IPO start-ups as well as a $1 billion+ public corporation. She began her high-tech career in the market research department at Epsilon Data Management and later moved into the corporate marketing function at Industrial Vision Systems. Her experience in the electronics design industry spans 18 years and includes attending 15+ DACs and a variety of marketing communications and PR roles at Telesis, Valid Logic Systems and Cadence Design Systems. At Cadence she managed the global PR operations and worked closely with the corporate investor relations and employee communications groups. Prior to joining Wired Island in 2000, Laurie was Senior Director of Public Relations for e-business application service provider ZLand.com. She has also worked as a strategic communications consultant for several Web-based software and infrastructure providers. Laurie has extensive electronics industry contacts. Her areas of expertise include the strategic planning and execution of company rollouts, mergers and acquisitions, product launches, issues-oriented PR campaigns, and industry initiatives, notably including the 1996 launch of the Virtual Socket Interface Alliance (VSIA). Cheryl Ajluni
Cheryl Ajluni is currently working on a variety of editorial and trade-show related freelance projects, as well as on writing a book for the IEEE Press. She is the former Editor in Chief of Wireless Systems Design (WSD) Magazine, a Penton Media Publication. Prior to her move to WSD, she served as the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Editor for Electronic Design magazine. While working for Electronic Design she also served as the Advanced Technology Editor and as the editorial liaison for Electronic Design China. In addition to her work on Electronic Design, she held the position of Systems on Silicon Editor for Embedded Systems Development magazine starting in January of 1999. Her career at Penton Media has spanned a ten+-year time frame.
Prior to her work in the editorial field Cheryl worked as a Solar Array Engineer for Space Systems/Loral. Her primary task was to design and test the solar arrays for such satellite programs as Superbird, GOES and GlobalStar. While working for Space Systems/Loral she was responsible for the development of a patented solar cell detection system known as NIRIS (Near InfraRed Inspection System). Her work in industry has also included stints as a statistical/failure analysis engineer for IBM in Austin, Texas and as a logistical engineer for the Department of Defense's Naval Air Rework Factory in Coronado, California. Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and mathematics from the University of California, Davis Dori Jones Dori Jones has spent the past 15 years in high-tech public relations. Specifically, she has focused on the semiconductor manufacturing, semiconductor equipment and materials, and disk drive industries. She began her PR career at Mathews & Clark Communications, where she spent eight years developing and executing strategic PR programs for clients that included Quantum, GaSonics International, Semiconductor Equipment & Materials International (SEMI), International Disk Equipment & Materials Association (IDEMA) and the U.S. Display Consortium (USDC). For the next seven years, Dori worked at MCA High-tech PR. As account director, she managed various accounts, including Asyst Technologies, Ultratech, Advanced Energy, Advantest America, OnWafer Technologies, GaSonics International (prior to its acquisition by Novellus), and the Semiconductor Test Consortium. Most recently, Dori was account director at The Hoffman Agency, where she was responsible for managing an eight-person internal team to drive the North American PR program for Dutch-based Philips Semiconductors. This included coordinating the U.S. campaign with Philips' internal PR team in the Netherlands as well as Hoffman's London office. Toni Sottak
Toni Sottak has spent over 20 years in high-technology public relations with a combination of agency and corporate experience. The first half of her career was spent working at TFB/BBDO and Cunningham Communications where she worked on clients such as Apple Computer, Autodesk, Cadence Design Systems, Hewlett-Packard and Taligent. After that, she moved to the corporate side where she was Director of Corporate Communications at Rational Software, now owned by IBM, responsible for worldwide public relations for this software development and testing solutions provider. Prior to Rational, she was the PR manager of Pure Software and part of the team that conducted its IPO. Her primary areas of focus have been in the electronic design automation and software development industries, where she has built strong relationships with influencers in the electronics industry.
Toni has a degree in Journalism from Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania. Deborah Giusti
Deborah Giusti has been involved with various aspects of the web for the past 13 years and provides this expertise to Wired Island clients. In addition to managing Wired Island's web business, Deb supports clients with print design, event management and public relations services.
Before Wired Island, she was a project manager at AppNet, a single-source e-business solutions firm in Washington, D.C. where she worked for several nonprofit international organizations including; CARE, International Committee of the Red Cross, Pew Center for Climate Control, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Prior to joining AppNet, Deborah developed corporate web sites for DNA New Media Group, an interactive ad agency based in San Francisco. She also worked for a non-profit multimedia events company known as the Interactive Media Festival, a three-day interactive art gallery and competition that was held in Los Angeles during the summers of 1994 and 1995. Deborah holds a BA in Art, with an emphasis in Multimedia Studies, from San Francisco State University and is a member of IWA. Christine Keefe
Christine joined Wired Island in 2005 as an account coordinator and office manager for the firm's Providenciales-based operations. She oversees the customer service, billing and finance efforts as well as managing media research and planning programs on behalf of all of Wired Island's clients. She has more than 13 years experience in a variety of customer service and management positions in the healthcare and retail industries.
Christine graduated with honors from Temple University in Philadelphia with a degree in Psychology. |
